A graduate of Full Sail University, Michael McKinney has been telling stories his whole life but with the refinement through education has begun to perfect his art. No longer just a writer, he's taken his storytelling into the visual medium and focused on creating mood and telling stories with light and framing. The education provided by Full Sail, provided him with the tools to get things done on set and the lessons they taught him have steeled his nerve and dedication, pushing him to my limits during their rigorous 24 hour scheduling.

Having spent a few years in Florida after graduating working primarily as a Production Assistant, Michael worked hard on independent productions either as a writer, director, or editor and sometimes all three. After moving to New York, he had jobs on independent films working with the grip department before transitioning to Cinematographer for a production in the city. The transition wasn't smooth, while his skills and knowledge were up to the task, the path to Cinematographer was rough with the collapse of a company he'd applied to and with money tight he had to redouble his efforts.

Michael's continued to work as a Cinematographer and Editor since working on, "Shut In," for the 24 Hour Film Race and found that he enjoyed working with the camera and creating the lighting for films more than anything else. He's poured his passion into the craft in hopes to one day make a name for himself within the industry.
